In addition, Recurrent Energy’s services business has 6 GW of projects under operations and maintenance contracts, either operational or contracted projects. 

  

Position Title:Intern, GIS 

Department:Development / Land Acquisition  

Reports To:GIS Manager 

Location:Priority is given to candidates who can work in a flexible hybrid model from our office in Austin. 

  

Position Summary 

Recurrent Energy is seeking 1 PAID intern to support the North American Land Acquisition GIS team with its GIS efforts in in the development of utility-scale solar (“PV”) and battery energy storage system (“BESS”) projects.  This internship is an opportunity to join an industry-leading team to help drive management decision making and grow the business.  You will gain real-life work experience while having the chance to work on real-world projects that will have a significant impact to our grid and the energy transition to renewables. 

  

The internship will cover the Spring term and is flexible with start/end dates. This intern will gain exposure to projects currently under development, being constructed, preparing for financial close, and actively being marketed into wholesale power markets in the US.  These projects will be located across the United States and Canada. 

  

Responsibilities 

As an intern for the Land Acquisition GIS Team, you will help support Recurrent Energy’s GIS needs through: 

  • Ad-Hoc exhibit and presentation style map requests for users across the organization.
  • Assisting in GIS data management and maintenance tasks.
  • Supporting land holding and real estate mapping efforts.

In addition, responsibilities include: 

  • Reporting to and supporting the GIS Manager in efforts to deploy new web-based GIS offerings.
  • Assisting in spatial analysis efforts for project siting.

Reporting Relationship & Interactions 

  • Reports to GIS Manager
  • Assists the Land Acquisition, Real Estate and Development Teams with GIS data and mapping requests.
  • Interacts with various internal groups and external parties.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

  • Demonstrated interest in a career in GIS, energy, renewable energy, project development, or real estate.
  • Well versed in ESRI Suite of software. (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME).
  • Familiarity with various GIS data formats (FGDB, SHP, KMZ, DWG, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills relating to significant contact, communication, & interdependency other team members
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Evidence of solid research and writing skills
  • General understanding of real estate concepts
  • Operate in a team environment and participate in cross-functional teams to solve land acquisition problems
  • Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional organizational and planning skills

Requirements 

  • Minimum of at least 2 years of coursework working toward a bachelor’s degree, or any amount of coursework experience working towards a Graduate degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a similar field.
  • GIS, Renewable energy, development, real estate, landman, or consulting experience a plus
  • Preference for Graduate student candidates
