The Role:

Sentec, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. Under the guidance of a mentor you will be involved with real projects from day 1. You will be given ownership of work and responsibility to self-manage it. Training is generally ‘on the job’, however employees do attend specific courses where required or requested.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Creating new and novel ideas
  • Developing CAD designs with considered decisions.
  • Engineering detail designs with appropriate analysis
  • Making prototypes and testing proof of principle demonstrators
  • Designing/making test rigs and assembly jigs
  • Transferring designs to manufacture – including drawing packs and BoMs

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

To be successful in this environment and realise your potential you should have:

  • A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3D CAD skills (eg SolidWorks or Creo), with bonus points for FEA/CFD simulation experience
  • Familiarity with various materials and manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, casting, machining, stamping, coil winding etc
  • Ability to work from first principles with strong mathematical analysis.
  • Ability to use workshop tools
  • An inquisitive, creative mind and hands-on problem solving abilities
  • Self-motivation and an ability to operate with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills
