Product Manager - Custom Pumps

•The Product Manager shall be responsible for driving Xylem India Product Portfolio for Custom pumps that are used in multiple applications from Water transport, agriculture, lift irrigation, power, municipal, industrial, river linking etc.. She / He will be responsible for driving other associated products and initiatives critical to Xylem India business.
•She / He will own and drive the product management and commercialization throughout the entire lifecycle of the products from ideation to launch. This will include new product platforms and localization of existing product platforms.
•Her / His responsibilities shall include strategizing the right product-customer fit, developing the right customer strategy with Sales and Marketing, working with analysts to filter and understand the data, coordinating with the technical team to modify product features in response, and fundamentally being involved with all functions within an organization.
•The Product Manager must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.
•She / He shall source ideas from customers, competitors, internal teams (Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing) and/or own industry know-how. She / He will benchmark existing and new Xylem products against competition, by performing detailed study of the products feature costs.
•Every idea must go through a qualitative process where the opportunities in the industry, market viability and customer mindsets are analyzed and company strengths are considered. The product ideas that pass the process then enter the product development lifecycle – beginning with R&D and engineering to testing, launch and marketing, hand-held by the Product Manager.
•The product must be conceptualized in such a way that it is responsive to the market needs and customer demands. It must also fit within the capabilities of the organization’s technological and manpower prowess, where the teams are equipped to create the product, nurture it and launch it. The PM shall work deeply with multiple teams (R&D, Engineering, and Sourcing) to define and deliver this.
•The Product Manager with the team has to create a long-term strategy for the product’s evolution in the market. This entails a projection of industry dynamics in the future, and how the product will respond or evolve with the changes in society, industry or technology.
•The Product Manager should know target segments intimately, its motivations, aspirations and implicit needs. This will require immense knowledge of and in-depth interaction with end-users of the product, through social media, direct marketing activities and customer programs.
•The position will require strong leadership, communication and motivational skills.

Desired Candidate Profile :

•Proven working experience of 15+ years in product management
•Solid techno-commercial background with deep understanding and/or hands-on experience in Pumps, Water Treatment and other Water related technologies
•Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle, including VOC, competitive analysis, multi-generation product plan, pricing, positioning, commercialization plan
•Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
•Proven innovative skills to design new concepts working with R&D and engineering teams
•Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to complete the job
•Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Experience working with global teams
•BTech in Mechnical / Electrical / Industrial engineering with post-graduation, MBA preferred

•Proficient in Oral and Written communication in both Hindi and English
