Perdiem Inpatient Diabetes Educator
Description
Salary Range: $74.51 - $100.58
The Diabetic Inpatient Educator is an RN who provides individual assessment/ counseling and education to patients and their families during their stay in the acute care setting. The Diabetic Inpatient Educator may also provide education to RNs providing care to the patients the educator has taught, or to the nursing staff in general. This RN is available for consultation with the bedside RN and nursing management staff. She/he has the primary responsibility for patient and family education about the disease of diabetes, self-care with regards to medication, diet, exercise and how to test for blood sugar levels. She/he helps develop standards, policies and procedures as they relate to care of the diabetic patient. The Diabetic Inpatient Educator serves on various committees and task forces that have relevance to diabetic patients and their care in the acute care setting. She/he is involved with the Interdisciplinary care of the diabetic patient.
