THE ROLE  

Venterra is seeking a BI Developer / Data Engineer to join our Data Management team.  This is an integral role in our company strategy to create a data-driven organization that provides exceptional data quality and data governance.  This position is located in the Houston Corporate office and reports to the Director of Business Intelligence.

In this position, the candidate will work closely with the BI Developer / Data Architect to execute Venterra’s Data Management and Data Governance plan.  This includes (but not limited to) supporting a centralized data warehouse as the “one source of truth” for the entire organization, supports all data ETL functions, supports Business Intelligence analysts with data needs for reporting, support our Data Scientist data requirements for AI/ML and works with our DevOps team on data migration processes.  This position will be a subject matter expert on all processes and procedures related to data management.

THE DETAILS  

  • Designs data integrations and data quality framework.  Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate. 
  • Works within the SDLC.  This role works closely with our in-house software developers to bring data from the new functionality of our proprietary system to the Data Warehouse for reporting.
  • Performs data analysis required to troubleshoot data-related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
  • Assists Busines Intelligence analysts and Data Scientists with building key data sets and data-based recommendations.
  • Works as a liaison between internal software developers and the Business Intelligence team.
  • Reviews, tests, and QA for other individuals making database changes that are data warehouse related.

THE QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a business technology-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years previous experience in a comparable data-centric role.
  • Advanced knowledge of SSIS and Python. This is our primary ETL tool of choice.
  • Advanced level in MSSQL/TSQL coding is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of data warehousing required.
  • Experience working with Power BI and SSRS is a plus.
  • Ability to read and/or code Java is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AWS environments and tools is a plus.
  • Must work well in a team environment. This role requires extensive collaboration with most of the core functional areas of the business.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with varying degrees of involvement.
  • Ability to be able to work productively in a hybrid remote and in-office environment.
