Tyler Technologies is looking to hire for a Supervisory Team Lead to manage one of our software engineering teams in Troy, MI.  The Supervisory Team Lead is a member of a team that works on development projects.  That team as a whole is responsible for reviewing, designing, implementing, and testing each project they work on.  As an experienced and senior member of the team, Supervisory Team Lead is responsible for being a technical leader and a mentor on the team which involves making design decisions, working on difficult projects, and training and guiding the less experienced engineers on their team. Consequences of error carry a high risk to the organization.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level analysis and design to address and create well-integrated application systems.
  • Develop new application solutions and enhance existing solutions by coding system features according to system designs.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern development practices (CI/CD, Code Review, Quality Assurance).
  • Provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff to ensure bugs to existing applications are fixed and/or to clear up operational deficiencies in both previously released software and software slated for future release.
  • Assure program, module and system integrity through thorough testing and adherence to company standards and procedures.
  • Assist in leading phases of the software development life cycle, including research, design, analysis, requirements, implementation, test automation, and maintenance.
  • Utilize new technologies and tools to modify products and provide integration with applications developed internally and externally.
  • Prepare and modify program and system documentation.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members to ensure knowledge transfer and training are successfully meeting department goals.
  • Evaluating the performance and assistance with performance improvement.
  • Focused on team performance as well as collaboration with team members and individual career development. Support the team and care for the team to grow them professionally and personally
  • Achieve departmental goals and timelines along with performing other duties as assigned.
  • The Supervisory Team Lead must be able to:
    • Demonstrate the willingness to take any project; may successfully implement it with little or no help from more senior resources.
    • Demonstrate a high degree of skill, efficiency and be a leader to less experienced development staff.
    • Develop programs that are complex in nature, adhering to established departmental standards.
    • Learn and implement new technologies and architectures within a reasonably quick timeframe while producing and testing high quality software.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technologies obtained through formal training and work experience.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of required programming languages.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the technical/business environment.
    • Effectively partner, communicate, and negotiate with business analyst, development and support groups in order to gather and communicate business requirements.
    • Work on individual programs that are part of a much larger application.
    • Adapt to changing products and technologies.
    • Be consistent and reliable when it comes to delivering the results from dev team.
    • Fix bugs in existing, often unfamiliar programs, under considerable time constraints.
    • Manage and prioritize often conflicting tasks and interruptions so as to minimize their impact on the current deadlines and workload.
    • Bring new ideas and forward thinking to the team.
 

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically eight or more years of software development experience with database technology.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of software development practices, computer science theory, and understanding of relevant technologies.

  • Relevant related technologies
    • Experience writing and testing complex code to meet strict deadlines.
    • Demonstrated understanding of product architecture and all underlying technologies.
    • Demonstrated advanced understanding of development process.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with data modeling tools, web services and/or service oriented architecture.
    • Experience working well both independently and within a team environment.
    • Experience providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
    • Strong negotiation skills with various parties to ensure enhancements to applications are addressed while maintaining/balancing business situations and constrictions.
    • Exceptional written, verbal communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders across various departments.
    • Well-developed logical thinking and reasoning skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, technical environment.
    • Keen attention to detail.
