This position pays $155k - $180k, based on experience, with an opportunity for a 20% annual bonus potential.  This is an in-office position located at our national headquarters in Irvine, CA.

Job Description:

The Vice President of People Operations will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing the People Operations umbrella of functions which includes Employee Relations, Talent Acquisitions, Performance Management, and Employee Development within the organization. This person will be an essential part of the company’s leadership team and will require a strategic leader with a comprehensive understanding of employment laws, wage and hour regulations, total rewards, talent management, organizational development, and employee engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the HR, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition departments.
  • Provide leadership and support to People Operations professionals nationwide, overseeing the hiring, training, mentoring, and coaching of direct reports.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Develop and execute the overall People Operations strategy aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Develop and implement corporate policies and risk mitigating strategies.
  • Drive safety and workers’ compensation programs to limit losses and exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other executives to align the company's People Operations strategy with its business goals.
  • Use data and analytics to drive effective decision-making and to improve employee experience.
  • Leverage the ADP Workforce Now platform for HR management.
  • Develop and support positive employee relations by implementing effective communication and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership in support of semi-monthly payroll processes and benefit programming and administration to ensure compliance and employee satisfaction.
  • Partner with the leadership team and Finance Department to produce quarterly reporting on profit participation summaries for team members for educational purposes.
  • Partner with leadership and other People Operations team members to enhance and optimize the use of the HRIS platform including assisting with auditing data, updating and creating positions as needed, and supporting the mapping of salary grades.
  • Collaborate and lead all benefits programs and open enrollment processes, including, audits and communication strategies relating to health, vision, dental, 401k, short term disability, long term disability, time off, COBRA, leave of absences, EAP and wellness programming.
  • Partner with the leadership team on purchasing, negotiating, and renewing plans and packages as well as educating employees about benefits and available resources, including wellness offerings.
  • Oversee employee entitlements, processing, and tracking, including those for medical leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations for onsite and corporate team members.
  • Ensure mandatory State and Federal reporting including the annual 5500 reporting, EEO-1 filling, and ACA reporting.
  • Oversee employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Address and resolve workplace issues and conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Oversee Talent Acquisitions programs and strategies to attract top talent, meet the organizational staffing needs, and foster a positive employer brand.
  • Oversee employee retention programs and improvements to enhance overall job satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Mitigate compliance-related risks by staying informed about industry trends and legal developments.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any HR-related legal matters.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of People Operations initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports to executive leadership on People Operations related activities and outcomes.
  • Ensure familiarity with OSHA and nationwide OSHA program management and compliance.

 

Special Requirements:

Physical demands:

  • The team member will need to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach using feet, legs, back, arms and hands. The employee may occasionally need to climb. Specific vision requirements include the ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will need to work at a personal computer and talk on the phone for extended periods of time. Must possess the ability to detect auditory and/or visual alarms and be available to work extended/flexible hours and weekends as needed.

Attendance/Travel:

  • This position is a full-time position and may require the availability to work occasional nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. The position also requires regular attendance and active participation/planning at company functions and events.
  • Travel is minimal and less than 15%.

 

Qualifications:

Computer Skills:

  • Advanced computer and Internet knowledge including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Knowledge of the following software programs: ADP WFN, Jobvite, and SharePoint preferred.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM certification preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience at the Director-level required.
  • Experience leading team members across multiple HR disciplines required.
  • Previous experience managing Benefit Administration, including compliance audits, negotiations and management of open enrollment preferred.
