Senior Geologist, MRE

Geology / Geología Toronto, Ontario

Description

The Role

Torex is building a specialized Mineral Resource Estimation (MRE) team within Corporate Technical Services, and we’re looking for a Senior Geologist, MRE to help shape how we model and disclose our resources across a growing portfolio of assets. In this role, you will be a key technical specialist responsible for developing, maintaining, documenting, and reconciling the corporate mineral resource models that underpin our NI 43-101 disclosure, reserves, mine planning, and M&A growth. This is ideal for a geologist who loves the technical side of the work, enjoys complex modelling and geostatistics, and wants to deepen their expertise as a subject matter expert.

The Company

Our purpose is to transform finite mineral resources into lasting prosperity

by positively impacting all the lives we touch

We are a Canadian mining company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of gold, copper, and silver from our flagship Morelos Complex in Guerrero, which is currently Mexico’s largest single gold producer. The Company also owns the advanced-stage Los Reyes gold-silver project in Sinaloa, Mexico, and recently acquired a portfolio of early-stage exploration properties, including the Batopilas and Guigui projects in Chihuahua, Mexico, and the Gryphon and Medicine Springs projects in Nevada, USA.

Torex consistently delivers on our commitments guided by our key strategic objectives: optimization of Morelos production and costs; disciplined growth and capital allocation; growth of reserves and resources; excellence in project delivery; retention and attraction of best industry talent; and being an industry leader in responsible mining.

We have proven over the past decade that we can make a positive impact on people’s lives and the environment around us, all while improving safety, achieving operational efficiencies, realizing cost reductions, and generating positive return on investment. This is what makes us strong. This is the Torex way.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related field.
  • A Master’s degree in Geology, Geostatistics, or Mineral Resource Evaluation is a strong asset.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the preparation of mineral resource estimates.
  • Good working knowledge of NI 43-101, CIM Estimation of Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve Best Practice Guidelines, and CIM Definition Standards for MRMR.
  • Significant hands-on experience in:
    • Geological modelling/Mineral resource estimation/Reconciliation between resource models, short-term models, and production.
  • Experience gained at operating mine sites as well as (ideally) at the corporate or consulting level.
  • Strong experience in gold and precious metals (gold, silver, copper).
  • Comfortable working across multiple deposit styles (e.g., porphyry, epithermal, skarn, CRD/carbonate replacement).

Software & Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Leapfrog for geological and grade modelling (non-negotiable).
  • Experience with MineSight or similar mine planning/modelling software.
  • Experience with geostatistical software such as Supervisor and/or RMSP (or equivalent).
  • Experience with Python coding, or a demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn Python-based modelling workflows.
  • Solid practical understanding of geostatistics as applied to resource estimation (variography, domaining, kriging/simulation, search strategies, etc.).

Professional Registration & QP Path:

  • Eligible for registration with a professional association (e.g., P. Geo or equivalent).
  • Already a Qualified Person (QP) for NI 43-101 purposes, or clearly on track to obtain QP status in the near term.

Key Responsibilities

Mineral Resource Modelling & Estimation

  • Build, update, and maintain long-term mineral resource models for Torex’s portfolio (e.g., ELG, Media Luna, EPO, Los Reyes, and future projects).
  • Use Leapfrog (must-have) and other tools (e.g., MineSight, Supervisor, RMSP) to develop robust 3D geological and estimation models.
  • Ensure models are fully documented, including assumptions, parameters, domain definitions, and changes between versions.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with relevant standards (e.g., NI 43-101, SK-1300, JORC) and supports QP sign-off.

Reconciliation & Continuous Improvement

  • Reconcile corporate MRE models against:
    • Short-term / site-based models used for mine planning, and
    • Actual production performance.
  • Analyze variances, identify root causes, and recommend updates to improve resource models and assumptions.
  • Feed reconciliation insights back into the modelling workflow to continually improve predictability and reliability.

Data & Governance

  • Work closely with Exploration and Mine Geology to ensure data integrity (drilling, logging, databases, geological interpretation, and domains).
  • Support the structured handover of modelling responsibilities from site teams to the corporate MRE team, contributing to a clear, documented workflow.
  • Help define and implement standards, templates, and governance for resource estimation across the business.
  • Ensure geological and resource models are aligned with operational, strategic, and growth requirements.

Technical Disclosure & News Releases

  • Support validation of data and statements used in exploration and resource-related press releases.
  • Perform data checks and reasonableness reviews to help ensure the accuracy and consistency of information being externally disclosed.
