Job Opportunity: Principal, Mineral Resources

Location: Toronto, Canada

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional in the Geology field, to be our next Principal, Mineral Resources. This person will play a key role in managing the advancement and maintenance of resource models for known deposits, developing resource models for new discoveries, and reviewing and commenting on potential acquisition resources. This role assumes accountability for the development and maintenance of quality resource models that best represent in-situ deposits available for continued exploration and mine design purposes.  

The Company

Torex Gold Resources Inc. is an intermediate gold producer engaged in the exploration, development, and operation of our wholly-owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000 hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometers southwest of Mexico City. The Company is based in Canada, with our Corporate Office located in Toronto, Ontario. As of 2023, Torex became the largest gold producer in Mexico.

The Company’s mining asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes (“ELG”) Mining Complex, the Media Luna Project, a processing plant, and related infrastructure. Commercial production from the ELG Mining Complex began in April 2016, and the Company’s Media Luna project, located seven kilometers south of the ELG Complex, is currently under construction with commercial production expected to begin in 2025.

Torex’s key strategic objectives are to deliver Media Luna to full production, integrate and optimize the Morelos Complex, retain and attract the best industry talent, build on ESG excellence, and grow organically through ongoing exploration across the entire Morelos Property and through potential value accretive M&A.

Qualifications.

  • Geology/Geological Engineering degree. 
  • Minimum 15 years of geological experience in exploration, operations, or consulting, including at least 10 years of experience in geological modeling and resource estimation.
  • Currently qualified as a Qualified Person in resource estimation and exploration (as defined by National Instrument 43-101) or the ability to quickly obtain required qualifications. 
  • Significant experience in high-grade gold and copper/gold deposits and operations 
  • Advanced knowledge and extensive practical experience in the development and maintenance of resource models
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, manage, and work in a team environment with both the organization's staff and external consultants.
  • Ability to further develop the skills and mentor other geologists in the development of resource estimation and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to handle and present confidential information with appropriate discretion. Proven ability to effectively present technical and scientific information to executives and other senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with gold and copper/gold Skarn hosted deposits is an asset.
  • Familiar with both underground and open-pit operating environments would be an asset.
  • Broad experience in the evaluation processes of potential acquisition targets.
  • Bilingualism or working knowledge of Spanish will be considered an asset.

Key Deliverables

  • Accountable for the organization’s governance of the global mineral resource modeling process 
  • Effective collaboration with key corporate stakeholders such as exploration, mine engineering, metallurgical, project development, investor relations, corporate development, and executive/board of directors. 
  • Provide technical input, formal approval, and Qualified Person signoff on corporate disclosure related to mineral resource estimation and exploration. 
  • Provide leadership and overall accountability to production reconciliation processes and reporting. 
  • Develop and maintain industry-leading modeling and reconciliation procedures and train, mentor, and monitor mine site and other geological personnel in the development of geological and resource models. 
  • Review of external resource models to complete due diligence on the potential purchase of assets. 
  • Conduct quality audits on advanced exploration or development projects for all aspects of geology (drilling, sampling, analyzing, QA/QC, and estimating mineral resources) and ensure important recommendations are implemented.  
  • Keep up to date with best practices concerning changes or developments in mineral resource estimation methods and reporting regulations.
