Director of Revenue Recognition and Billing 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leading the revenue recognition team – from non-standard deal modeling to applying the revenue recognition accounting guidance to providing disclosures to external reporting
  • Driving technical application of the revenue recognition accounting guidance
  • Advising sales teams, sales operations and shared services on deal structure and the related accounting impact
  • Evaluating and documenting the accounting treatment for non-standard revenue transactions
  • Reviewing activities associated with non-recurring engineering (professional services) agreements
  • Lead the revenue recognition processes for internal control purposes
  • Ensuring timely documentation of key revenue recognition issues
  • Serving as liaison with external auditors on accounting and reporting matters related to revenue recognition
  • Work cross-functionally to support Controllership, FP&A, Sales and Sales Operations, Legal and Shared Services to ensure the integrity of financial information, resolve accounting issues and provide accounting advice
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of billings and payments to vendors
  • Work with billing system programmers with ongoing rate changes and testing
  • Ensure accounting for billing transactions and adjustments is accurately reflected on the financial statements
  • Manage the credit and collections team to support accelerated collections
  • Compiling, analyzing and reporting financial information to management and government agencies, including IRS reporting
  • Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer

  

Education/Skills/Experience:  

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with recent public accounting client service (Big 4 preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree and CPA required
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and exposure to complex revenue recognition transactions is a must
  • Proficient at writing technical accounting memos
  • Good judgment, problem identification and problem solving ability
  • Systems knowledge (NetSuite) helpful
  • Proficient in ERP systems including billing and collections functions
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong understanding of system design
  • Strong project management skills

The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $169,811 - $225,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
