Project Superintendent

General Accountability:
Reporting to the Manager, Capital Projects the Project Superintendent will participate in the project engineering and procurement processes and be responsible for reviewing the commercial process plant and supporting infrastructure designs to insure that the facilities will be operable, maintainable and suitable to meet the planned operational performance. The Project Superintendent will participate in constructability reviews, construction planning and scheduling as well as contractor supervision. The Project Superintendent’s actions will be focused on achieving the project goals of delivering cost effective, functional, safe, and environmentally sound facilities for Florence Copper which are completed on time and on budget. The incumbent accomplishes these goals by tracking and reviewing the work of the project consultants, liaising with operations management and technical personnel, and managing the project safety program. The incumbent will work with the other members of the project owner’s team, consultants and contractors to function as a cohesive, coordinated, goal-directed team.
Core Responsibilities:
- Management and monitoring of consultants to ensure engineering activities are completed in a timely and cost effective manner and meet project schedule requirements. Provide timely reports on engineering and procurement KPIs and progress.
- Support construction activities by coordinating the field engineering requirements.
- Manage and monitor site safety program and controls through construction.
- Manage and monitor quality assurance activities through construction.
- Supervise the development and execution of the project commissioning plan.
- Manage the identification and purchase of the required capital and operating spares.
- Proactively identifying, managing, and resolving potential problems, work conflicts, and/or schedule challenges.
- Provide leadership and administer project management controls in a manner that will deliver the project within budget, on schedule, and at the required quality.
- Supervising, directing, coaching, training, and mentoring the project team, including direct and indirect reports.
- Ensure change management processes are effective and followed.
Experience:
- 10 years heavy industrial or mining construction related experience.
- Experience managing process plant engineering and procurement programs.
- Supervisory operations and maintenance experience, preferably in a senior role.
- Construction supervision and management experience would be an asset.
- Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
