Company Background and Culture:
Florence Copper is in the historic Copper Corridor of Arizona – a region steeped in copper mining history.  The project offers a unique opportunity to provide strong economic benefits to the community of Florence and the State of Arizona with minimal environmental impact using the in-situ copper recovery process.  During its lifetime, Florence Copper is estimated to create close to 500 jobs for Pinal County and generate $3.4 billion in economic activity for the State of Arizona. 
Florence Copper is expected to have the lowest energy and greenhouse gas-intensity (GHG) of any copper producer in North America and will reduce the United States’ reliance on foreign producers for a metal considered to be critical for the transition to a low-carbon economy. 
Florence Copper is a wholly owned subsidiary of Taseko Mines Limited which is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.  Taseko is also the operator and the owner of the Gibraltar copper/molybdenum mine in Canada and various other development projects.
 
Key Responsibilities:  
Reporting to the Senior Hydrogeologist, the Wellfield Technician will occupy a safety sensitive position as a key member of a team focused on wellfield data management, operation, maintenance, hydrogeological characterization and optimization during all phases of copper recovery.  
 
Specific Responsibilities: 
•    Perform groundwater sampling, sample characterization, and other wellfield data collection activities as required to assess rinsing and leaching performance.
•    Assist with permit compliance and wellfield maintenance planning, including the optimization of data management systems and automated reports.
•    Assist with supervision of wellfield workover rigs for safety and performance.
•    Assist with the monitoring of individual recovery and injection well performance.
•    Assist with the preparation of technical reports.
•    Lead data monitoring, compliance sampling and routine maintenance of the potable water system, and other water related safety systems, such as eye wash stations.  Work with operations to address maintenance or repairs as needed.
•    Other duties as required.
 
Qualifications & Education: 
•    Experience with groundwater sampling, safe handling of chemicals, and basic laboratory analysis is required.
•    Database/data logger experience is preferred.
•    Some familiarity with aquifer related regulations is preferred.
•    Must be able to effectively manage time, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, technical report writing experience preferred.
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•    GIS experience is preferred.
•    Candidates will be required to achieve Grade 1 certification for drinking water treatment and distribution within 9 months of hire date.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
 
Work Environment:
•    This position will include some office work, but a significant amount of work will be performed in all-weather conditions outdoors.
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
•    Must work in compliance with the Florence Copper’s site safety program.
