Cable Shop Lead


As a Cable Shop Lead at SRC, Inc., you will work under general supervision in a research and development (R&D) and limited production environment. This is a hands-on role. The Cable Shop Lead is expected to provide expert level cable fabrication services and oversee the day-to-day operation of the cable shop.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate and test cables (digital, power and RF) using various industry standard tools (crimp tools, soldering irons, multimeters, network analyzers, highpot testers, pull testers, strippers, potting, etc.)

  • Collaborate with engineering on new cable designs being fabricated in the shop

  • Oversee the day to day operations and maintenance of the cable shop

  • Manage cable shop workload, report status to requestors and management

  • Effectively communicate with personnel at various levels of the organization

  • Manage work orders and properly set priorities based on program needs

  • Research tooling and standards necessary to accommodate new cable designs

  • Perform calibration as necessary

  • Ensure quality, operations, compliance and safety processes are being followed the in shop

  • Ensure all industry best practices are being adhered to (IPC 620, ESD, FOD, Calibration)

  • Maintain a certified IPC-A-620 trainer certification and provide cable fabrication training to other employees

  • Perform other assembly and test related tasks as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years of cable fabrication experience

  • Strong electrical and mechanical skillset

  • High level of understanding of cable fabrication techniques, tooling and standards

  • Ability to interpret drawings, electrical schematics, technical datasheets, mechanical drawings, and assembly instructions.

  • Knowledge of and hands on experience using cable testing equipment (DMMs, Network Analyzers, Pull Testers, High Pot Testers)

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment, with excellent communication skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Ways to Stand Out

  • Expert level understanding of mil-spec cable fabrication, tooling and standards

  • Previous experience working in an environment focused on high complexity cables, fast turn times, low order quantity and high variation

  • Previous or active IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Experience working with fabrication tools (hand tools, power tools)

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $61,000 to $77,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
