Lead Subject Matter Expert

Digital Threat Leeds, United Kingdom

Description

Position at Resolver

Would you like a role that makes a real world impact? The growth of online harms in the world of social media has been exponential and can present itself at all levels of society. Users of social media are continually being bombarded with potentially harmful, illegal, hateful, violent, inauthentic and misattributed content. Fighting these risks on social media requires dynamism and fluidity to face each problem individually and appropriately, whilst also applying a consistent lens of investigative curiosity.
Our intelligence makes a huge difference; every year we protect millions of the most vulnerable from the most egregious forms of exploitation.
Within the Platforms Team at Resolver, you will be identifying online threats across a number of risk areas. We are excited to be growing our team, and are hiring a Lead Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) for the Adult and Harmful & Dangerous risk area. This role is ideal for anyone wanting to use their previous professional and/or academic experiences within Trust & Safety, research, intelligence, and analysis to make the internet a safer place for everyone.
About the role:
The core focus in this role is to lead this component of subject matter expertise within the Platforms Team and its subteams. Online harms can be difficult to research and analyse; which means a successful subject matter expert must be experienced in researching online harms, and understand the problem set in order to draw assessments that will support actionable outputs.
Resolver focus under Adult includes: sextortion, adult and nudity content whilst also working closely with our teams around violence against women.
Resolver focus under Harmful and Dangerous includes: sale of regulated goods (including drugs and firearms), human trafficking/smuggling, promotion of dangerous acts.
A successful SME must be passionate, determined, focused, and open-minded when approaching a task, prioritising key tenets of intelligence analysis and professionalism. In this role, you will not only be working hands-on to research and write intelligence deliverables, but also working directly with our clients to ensure an excellent service. This means you will be confident in communicating both in written form as well as verbally and are able to identify and present the key risks, threats, trends, and issues in a personable yet concise manner. Whilst being well-versed in your subject area, you must be able to stay up to date with industry trends, whilst also supporting organic research to support a proactive approach to trust and safety issues.
With a background in intelligence or trust and safety, you will be a key leader in the business; supporting, mentoring, and growing the breadth of expertise in the team. Whilst adept at developing others to grow their subject matter expertise, you will also be expected to support with improving the overall output of the wider intelligence team. This means working closely with their peers in a collaborative environment, conducting training, and providing feedback on one another's work in a constructive manner.
As a result, whilst a degree is not necessary to be successful in procuring this role, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate relevant experience that will see them flourish as an SME at Resolver. Key competencies such as OSINT skills, or intelligence training qualifications are particularly desirable for a person applying for these positions.
