Job Title: Safety Coordinator 2nd shift 3:30 pm to 1am
Monday through Friday flexible hours as needed and some Saturdays.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION: 
  • Monitor the production floor for safety issues for immediate resolution.
  • Monitor safety behaviors and implement resolutions.
  • Ensure employees are wearing PPE and wearing it correctly.
  • Ensure Departmental Safety Reps have filled out their Daily Inspection Sheets.
  • Communicate with Supervisors regarding safety issues as they arise and assist in developing/implementing corrective actions wherever possible.
  • Fill out a daily safety tech report with issues and concerns and turn in to the Safety Manager and Shift Manager.
  • Conduct Safety Training with hourly and SNE as required - standard OSHA training requirements per the monthly topic learning plan, off cycle training as needed, etc.)
  • Chair the Safety Committee Member Meeting and prepare, distribute, track and maintain meeting minutes (new business and old business shall continually be tracked and documented to reflect current status on the meeting minutes). Attend Safety staff meetings.
  • Assist in injury and near miss investigations. Assist in Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) reviews.       
  • Assist in compliance with Safety Initiatives.
  • Ensure approved daily exercises are completed by each department.
  • Ensure compliance with the knife/scissor and blade handling policy        
  • Ensure employees have JSA’s and PPE assessments on file when sent to a department other than their own to work.  Obtain the proper documents from the Supervisor.
  • Assist in identifying ergonomic opportunities and propose corrective ideas for consideration.
  • Monitor PAA levels throughout the day. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective people skills
  • Good Attendance
  • Trustworthy – Will be handling confidential material 
 
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:  
High School Diploma/ GED; Associates Degree or two years of college coursework in Communications, HR, or similar field preferred but not required; experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
