Position overview:
 
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, driven Production Manager, to lead our manufacturing operations. The production manager is responsible for ensuring manufacturing efficiency and maximizing plant output with a constant emphasis on world class customer service. 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of production activities for maximum manufacturing efficiency and timely product completion.
  • Lead production as well as production support teams.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate key performance indicators to shop floor employees.
  • Manage operator training as well as the apprenticeship program.
  • Assist with the development of work instructions and procedures related to all manufacturing and maintenance processes.
  • Support decisions related to and execute order expediting and de-expediting to address customer needs.
  • Work in close collaboration with cross functional teams including engineering, tooling, maintenance, and outside processing.
  • Engage with the quality department to support root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Assist with capacity analysis for PPAP and other processes.
  • Maintain labor and manufacturing costs to within budget.
  • Maximize equipment uptime by managing the preventive and predictive maintenance of all production equipment.
  • Assist in providing strategic direction towards machine overhauls and rebuilds.
  • Complete ownership of exception reporting related to scheduling, planning, and execution matters.

Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience as an engineer in Manufacturing (mechanical, industrial, quality, or product) or High School Diploma with Manufacturing experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills – efficient message delivery to shop floor personnel is key to maintaining team cohesion, engagement, and morale.
  • Proficient in ERP utilization – many of the production activities are tracked through our ERP system, therefore the ability to utilize the system to its’ highest extent is key to success in this role.
  • Administration — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, basic arithmetic. Achieved with life experience and recipient of a High School Diploma. Bachelors Preferred.
  • Production and processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, finishing operations, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Computer knowledge— the ability to operate software and electronic devices. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (inclusive of Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Verbal and Written Expression — Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Physical Demands / Travel
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Primarily desk/office/shop floor with travel less than 10%.
