Position overview:
 
We are looking for a highly energetic, dynamic Sr. Human Resources Generalist to support our DC operations in the Americas in HR-related matters.
 
Based out of our office in Wood Dale, Illinois, this role reports into the Director of Human Resources for the Americas and involves great challenges and career growth.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with HR management, internal and external stakeholders.
 
The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will be actively involved in the following functional areas:
  • Employee relations
  • Performance management
  • On-boarding/Off-boarding
  • Policy implementation
  • Employment law compliance
Main responsibilities:
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for the organization; assist in the development and implementation of policies and is actively involved in maintaining the employee handbook.
  • Coordinate with HR Coordinator to conduct new employee orientations; monitor on the job and other training programs.
  • Support a variety of work sites throughout the US both remotely and in person.
  • Monitor the performance management process and program.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Coach and counsel both leadership and staff in areas of performance management and employee engagement as part of a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Promote and advocate company-wide initiatives that support employee growth, performance, engagement, and development.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Respond to Requests for Separation Information for unemployment claims and participate in hearings as appropriate.
  • Administer leave of absence and FMLA/STD/LTD programs in accordance with applicable laws
  • Assist employees with payroll related issues.
  • Assist with benefit related issues and administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Emphasis on Human Resources, Psychology, or Business preferred
  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Generalist background, with broad knowledge of benefit and compensation administration, employee relations, legal compliance, safety, and training and development.
  • Good knowledge of local statutory and legal requirements.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills: demonstrates good listening skills, communicates status on process with colleagues, keeps team members informed and responds clearly to employee inquiries.
  • Independent and organized work style:  can effectively manage time and prioritize workload, manages multiple tasks without close supervision, and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Management: establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude in working with people.
  • Adaptability: Adapts easily to change, performs calmly under pressure and works effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Strong technical skills/aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs.
