This role sits within the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Registrar portfolio which includes Student Success and Wellbeing, Libraries, Student Administration. Student Life supports students to successfully transition into university and actively engage in all facets of university life. We work alongside students to deliver a variety of programs and initiative that create a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community across our campuses.

About the role

The Student Life Coordinator, International and Transition manages and assists in the development for International Student Engagement programs across the University. The position reports to the National Manager, Student Life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of International Student Engagement Programs, guided by the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching such as dignity, community, and social justice.
  • Provide expert advice and evidence-based recommendations to university leadership to strengthen international student transition and engagement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a university-wide International Student Engagement Framework that helps students succeed academically and socially.
  • Manage a team of Student Life Officers across campuses — including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, training, and professional development.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including the Coordinator of Residences, to design and deliver rich cultural experiences and engagement opportunities for Study Abroad and International students.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key university stakeholders at the national level to support consistent engagement initiatives.
  • Apply university policies and procedures to address student matters, including after-hours support, and ensure ESOS Act compliance, particularly for International Student Orientation programs.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Possession of a degree qualification with relevant work experience and/or extensive experience and management expertise in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff and providing direction
  • Ability to understand, respond and provide informed advice on policies and procedures relevant to the scope of the role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with other departments and achieve consensus with senior levels.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships and effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, using highly developed relational and communication skills.
  • Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
