Data Engineering Analyst 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a dynamic team and get involved in both data engineering and data analytics. This role is that of a modern-day analyst. It is a hybrid of a data engineer and an analyst who powers data-driven decision with speed and accuracy and at scale. 

The Data Engineering Analyst is charged with owningmaintaining, and updating the entire data pipeline as well as collaborating with key stakeholders at New York Public Radio to automate teams’ workflows. The Analyst will work with the Data Team and business unit heads to enable data-driven decision making at New York Public Radio. 

Critically, the Analyst must have a healthy mix of technical and stakeholder management skills where they can demonstrate engineering best practiceslove working with data and enjoy solving problems for the various stakeholders of an organization to make their lives easier. 

This position reports to the Head of Data & Insights and works closely with the Analytics Engineering Lead at New York Public Radio. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead current and new data ingestion from owned & third-party sources into our data warehouse  
  • Model raw data into maintainable datasets and automate how they are added to the current ETL/ELT processes, stored in our databases and/or sent to third-party platforms 
  • Maintain the data flow to make sure BI tools and other reporting data products are working 
  • Collaborate on onboarding teams to new platforms in order to ensure that the use of the said platforms /tools yield clean, repeatable and maintainable data  
  • Lead the creation of new data products such as automated reports, notebooks and internal apps 

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience ( or experience that one may feel as equivalent ) 
  • Experience working with large datasets and/or data APIs together with cloud object storage such as Amazon S3, Google Cloud Platform or Azure Storage 
  • Experience with and knowledge of ETL/ELT processes such as Luigi, Airflow, Glue 
  • Knowledge of a programming language. Python and PySpark are a plus 
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Postgres or MySQL) as well as SQL 
  • Familiarity with statistics and probability. Bayesian Statistics is a plus 
  • Impeccable skills in communicating technical knowledge to a broad non-technical audience 
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage several projects concurrently and communicate across multiple divisions while keeping everyone informed of any potential issues

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this role is currently operating in a remote capacity with an option to work from the office if fully vaccinated against COVID-19However, this position is not a permanent remote position and is part of the New York City staff, and may be expected to work from the New York office when it is safe to do so.
