This role will work Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm. Because we run 24 hours a day Monday-Thursday, you’ll need to be flexible and able to come in earlier or later to support employees, supervisors, and operational needs that may occur after hours.
What you’ll do
While leading a team of 5 supervisors and 50+ employees, you’ll foster a collaborative and supportive work environment for all employees ensuring their needs and issues are addressed with empathy and fairness. If you can’t tell, we are an employee-first organization.
Working directly with the President, our Operations Manager will focus on multiple initiatives involving safety, quality, efficiency, purchasing, employee experience/culture, and addressing any operational challenges. Every day will be a little different but day to day, you’ll:
- Oversee all plant operations including mixing, laminating, slitting, packaging, warehousing, maintenance, and shipping & receiving
- Own the safety process and drive initiatives to develop a safety-first culture
- Establish both short & long-term operating goals driving safety, quality, efficiency, service, and margin improvements
- Foster a positive culture and company reputation within the community
- Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors to lead effectively with a focus on measurable goals, people skills, standard operating procedures, and performance reviews
- Instill a continuous improvement mindset that encourages all employees to identify and execute initiatives
- Identify and implement action plans to address bottlenecks and operational challenges
- Build and drive a culture built on effective communication and collaboration with all departments at all levels
What you need to thrive in this role
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field OR 10 years of relevant leadership experience
- 7+ years in Operations Management, focusing on safety, organizational development, operational excellence, continuous improvement, capital planning, etc.
- Self-motivated, solution-oriented, and a strategic mindset with exceptional follow-up and attention to detail
- A track record of successful development and implementation of short & long-term strategic initiatives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships across all functions
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Green or black belt certification is a plus!
