What we offer

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineer/Designer will be a key contributor to the design and coordination of diverse, high-impact projects across Stelumar Advanced Manufacturing Inc. (SAMI) and Mattamy Homes Canada. This role involves developing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system layouts while ensuring technical accuracy, efficiency, and full compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Collaborating closely with multiple departments throughout the design and solution process, the MEP Engineer/Designer will deliver practical and innovative solutions that meet project objectives.

 

What you’ll do

  • Design and engineer mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Prepare preliminary design layouts to support concept development and guide subsequent detailed engineering.
  • Coordinate MEP designs collaboratively with architectural and structural disciplines to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Oversee and produce comprehensive drawings and specifications for all MEP scopes.
  • Seal engineering documents in accordance with licensure requirements and the scope of each project.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for permit submissions as required.
  • Collaborate with architects throughout all phases of the project to facilitate integrated building design and system compatibility.
  • Contribute to the construction and implementation of technical solutions, value-engineering options, and design alternatives during concept and design development stages.
  • Participate in procurement discussions when necessary to identify cost-effective alternatives for panel construction.
  • Utilize MEP software (AutoCad, Revit) to develop project designs and conduct mechanical, electrical and plumbing analysis.
  • Support project meetings, presentations, and discussions with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Prioritize and manage assignments effectively to ensure completion by project deadlines and within budgetary limits.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in MEP work or similar role.
  • Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) License with the ability to stamp and seal engineering documents.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and data integration for manufacturing workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in MEP software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks Manage, Bluebeam Revu).

Bonus points

  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
  • Previous exposure to manufacturing environments.
  • Previous exposure to modular/prefabricated/offsite construction.
