What we offer

In this role, you’ll lead a key production area within SAMI’s advanced manufacturing cabinetry facility, building and guiding a skilled team, and helping drive operational excellence in a highly innovative, technology-driven environment. You’ll have the opportunity to shape processes, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and play an important part in delivering high-quality products.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead daily operations on the cabinet assembly line, ensuring production targets, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Direct and support a team of assemblers, machine operators, and material handlers; oversee task allocation, performance, and attendance, fostering accountability.
  • Supervise production activities, including employee performance and attendance, to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to assembly processes, including proper sequencing, hardware installation, and finishing, in line with established work instructions.
  • Maintain quality standards throughout the designated department, promptly addressing defects or inconsistencies to uphold product standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production planning, inventory, and engineering teams to align material availability and workflow.
  • Initiate and manage reproduction orders to meet customer delivery timelines and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assembly processes, safety guidelines, and equipment usage.
  • Track and report key production metrics, such as output, efficiency, downtime, and labour utilization, to drive performance improvements.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Train and onboard new team members, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Implement, participate in and ensure a high-level of cross-training programs across departments to build flexibility, seamless coverage and a holistic understanding of the manufacturing production operations.

What you bring

  • Proven leadership experience in cabinetry assembly or a related manufacturing environment, ideally in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of cabinet construction, hardware installation, and assembly techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, including drawings, cut lists, and job orders.
  • Familiarity with MES/ERP systems for job tracking and production reporting.
  • Experience in developing SOPs and training materials to standardize processes and ensure compliance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement focus, with a proactive approach to operational challenges.

 

Bonus Points

  • Educational background: Diploma or certificate in Woodworking Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with HOMAG equipment or similar advanced woodworking machinery preferred.

 

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside of this range, and we encourage all interested applicants to apply.

 

You are also eligible to participate in SAMI's annual bonus program, which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
