KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy is dedicated to providing its students with the knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed in top-quality high schools, colleges, and in the competitive world beyond. KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy opened its doors to fifth graders in July 2003 in the Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco. The school was founded by principal Lydia Glassie. In the state of California, KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy scores among the top 20% of all schools. In 2007, KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy received the prestigious California Distinguished School award. Today, the school serves over 350 students in grades five through eight.

Position Overview
The ASES Program Assistant provides support to the Program Manager in interacting with community-based partners, students, and parents in a positive, constructive manner. The PA will actively participate with students in after-school activities such as homework club, arts, crafts and enrichment activities, and indoor/outdoor play. This position reports to the Site Coordinator and will work closely with school staff and external vendors to run an effective after-school program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support KIPP SF Bay’s after-school program Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:30 PM – 7:00 PM and 1:30 - 5:00 PM every regular school day
  • Supervise students in the enrichment and homework club programs and act as an aide to the Program Manager or enrichment program instructors.
  • Plan and implement engaging, fun activities for times there is no planned programming.
  • Maintain consistent supervision and active involvement with students.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of the students at all times.
  • Utilize positive strategies to support the social and emotional development of all the students.
  • Assist with cleanup and organization of supplies and materials after programming
  • Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Program Manager to ensure compliance with ASES regulations 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with and managing middle school students Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and experience managing a classroom
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and flexible
  • Able to communicate, multi-task, and resolve issues and challenges creatively
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and build relationships
  • Must complete Live Scan and TB test 

This is a part-time (about 20 hours per week), non-exempt hourly position. The hourly rate is $15.00 an hour.
