Role Purpose
The Vice President and Chief Information Officer (VP, CIO) is the executive leader responsible for defining and executing the technology vision for Kal Tire, a large, technologically advanced organization undergoing significant business and technology change. This role demands a forward-thinking, business-minded strategist who can integrate existing systems and processes with emerging new technology platforms, and drive innovation across a global business with diverse operational domains.
As a senior leader, the VP, CIO champions enterprise-wide digital initiatives, fosters a culture of innovation, agility and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and customer-centric digital capabilities. With evolving business expectations and increasing cybersecurity threats, the VP, CIO plays a critical role in aligning technology investments with long-term business, technology and cybersecurity goals and guiding the organization through transformative change.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic leadership & vision
- Build and align the technology strategy with delivery programs and business goals across global operations. Drive and support digital transformation and innovation initiatives. Serve as a key advisor to the Senior Management Team on technology trends and competitive advantage.
People leadership & culture
- Build and lead high-performance, multidisciplinary technology teams. Foster a culture of teamwork, agility and results orientation. Engage and communicate effectively with executive and operational teams across the company. Guide teams through transformation and change with empathy and clarity.
Business acumen & financial stewardship
- Build and manage technology budgets and contracts with a focus on ROI and business value. Align technology teams, support and processes with business units to support strategic goals. Design systems and processes that enhance customer service delivery and agility.
Cybersecurity & risk management
- Define a cybersecurity strategy that aligns with evolving enterprise risk and a growing threat landscape. Maintain a robust cybersecurity posture across global technology infrastructure, applications, and endpoints. Lead the response planning and recovery protocols during a cyberattack. Ensure alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CPPA, PCI) and drive enterprise-wide security awareness and training.
Technology operations
- Ensure secure, reliable, scalable operations of global technology infrastructure, networks, applications and endpoints. Balance strategic priorities with operational and financial constraints. Oversee well-planned and coordinated rollout and transition to operations of new technology solutions, Hiring Requirements
Work Experience
- 10–15 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including at least 3 years in an executive-level role (e.g., CIO, CTO, VP of IT) leading enterprise-wide technology strategy.
- Proven success in aligning technology strategy with business transformation, demonstrating measurable impact on revenue, cost optimization, and customer experience
- Track record of building and leading high-performance, multidisciplinary teams and driving cultural change in complex environments
- Demonstrated expertise in financial stewardship of large technology budgets, vendor negotiations, and ROI-driven investment decisions
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity strategy, enterprise risk management, and regulatory compliance
- Strong background in global technology operations and service delivery, including complex cloud and on-premise deployments, global networks and enterprise business applications
- Adept at executive-level communication and influencing—capable of engaging boards, senior leadership teams, and front-line operations to drive adoption and change.
Education
- MBA plus IT related degree preferred.
Special Requirements
- Relocation to Vernon, BC area required.
- Flexible to travel internationally
