Director - Software Development
Description
- Partners with stakeholders to build multi-year technology vision, strategy, and roadmaps for enterprise systems.
- Oversees the overall development life cycle of the solution and manages complex projects with significant bottom line impact.
- Partners with project stakeholders to translate internal and external customer and market requirements into a system, product, and technology roadmaps.
- Oversees, monitors, and controls progress of projects to ensure usage of sound application of engineering principles and achievement of design intent.
- Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) and drives management of performance against KPIs. Measures and reviews operational metrics to identify areas of improvement that support the sustainable delivery of quality software.
- Supports the change management process to manage software releases, application patching, and changes to production configurations.
- Drives the development lifecycle from requirements analysis, feasibility estimates, design, code, documentation, testing, implementation, and support.
- Accountable for the quality of software code delivered relative to business requirements. Identifies bottlenecks and bugs and drives solutions to mitigate and address these issues.
- Defines, adopts, and continuously improves software development standards, tooling, and best practices to achieve short and long-term business goals.
- Drives improvements that affect the performance quality, scalability, and security of software products.
- Builds a culture of learning and sharing technology insights across the organization.
- Oversees and manages department expenses and budget planning.
- Manages and supports Software development and Software QA department and team members in areas of problem solving, decision making, process improvement, and professional growth in accordance with company policies.
- Establishes department and team goals in accordance with company plan and vision. Ensures team understands department performance standards and has a clear understanding of their own individual performance.
- Serves as both coach and mentor to staff in areas of problem solving, decision-making, process improvement, and personal growth.
- Partners and coordinates with Human Resources in a timely manner on all employee relations matters.
- Promotes career training and development of direct staff to support the ongoing acquisition and refinement of skills and knowledge, including job mastery and professional development.
- Fosters and encourages a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related technical field required.
- Minimum twelve (12) years of relevant software development experience required.
- Minimum eight (8) years of leadership experience required.
- Knowledge of development tools: .NET, NodeJS, React, React Native, and Angular.
- Strong background in Mathematics, Computational Geometry, or Computer Graphics required.
- Familiarity with implementing enterprise platforms such as ERP and CRM
- Experience managing a distributed software development team from different countries
