POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the oversight of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Informatics is responsible for applying strategic insight and innovatively guiding the operations of the Data Systems team. The position is responsible for developing the overall expert direction, coordination and evaluation of clinical workflows as related to the functionality and optimization of clinical technology applications with the goal of delivering evidence-based, best practice informatics solutions to improve quality and patient safety. The Director works collaboratively with the IT, Quality, and other multidisciplinary leaders to establish short- and long-term goals and implementation approaches that Support Equitas Health’s mission and strategic plan.

SALARY:  $105,600-$132,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, traveling, driving, understanding HR law as it relates to employee leave and relations, utilizing a computer for typing and conducting research, analyzing data, and participating in in-person and virtual meetings.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides visionary leadership with commitment to informatics principles and Equitas Health’s strategic mission.
  • Collaborates as an integral and active contributor to the planning, design, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of clinical technology applications.
  • Evaluates organizational compliance regarding the regulation and expectations of informatics-related requirements, as dictated by CMS, ODH, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Represents Equitas Health at local, state, and national levels through involvement in professional informatics associations and organizations.
  • Designs and implements a prioritization model for informatics-related requests.
  • Develops administers and evaluates the departmental annual budget.
  • Understands the regulatory expectations, expected benefits, and the alignment of ROI of informatics expenditure to value based care.
  • Manages direct reports to include, but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, developing of goals and expectations, conducting performance reviews, salary administration, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Implements system strategies to improve and/or maintain positive department culture and engagement.
  • Participates with organizational teams in defining and identifying metrics necessary to measure change and promote data-driven improvement across the continuum of patient care.
  • Collaborates in the development and evaluation, and directs the implementation of standard clinical workflows within clinical technology applications to support evidence based best practice and standardized approach to clinical care among the interdisciplinary team.
  • Establishes effective relationships with IT, the data and analytics team, and other partners to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement within clinical technology applications.
  • Communicates information/outcomes regarding system issues and/or patient populations to appropriate individuals or groups and provides direction to facilitate/coordinate the progress of patient groups along the continuum of care to achieve expected outcomes based on established guidelines or protocols; identifies variation in care delivery.
  • Collaborates with medical staff, health center operational teams, and associated care process models on QI committees.
  • Performs needs assessments and gap analyses as needed to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures informatics competencies of the clinical informatics team based on Scope and Standards of Practice of respective discipline[MSH1] .
  • Empowers staff to participate in decision making through shared governance.
  • Maintains, supports, and encourages others with their professional development.
  • Conducts education and training to clinical informatics team and interdisciplinary teams as needed related to informatics expertise.
  • Participates in development of orientation structure and plan for incoming informatics team members, and for incoming clinicians and other service providers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
  • Master's Degree require[MSH2] d.
  • Preferred field of study: Informatics, Information Management or related from an accredited school of or related
  • Epic Certifications strongly preferred, with a particular preference for Clinical Build, EpicCare Ambulatory, Cadence, Resolute PB, and Cogito.
  • Six plus years Healthcare environment related experience required, with a preference for experience in an ambulatory healthcare environment.
  • Six plus years Informatics or Information Systems experience required.
  • Three plus years Leadership/Management experience preferred. 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Qualifications:
  • Must have valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain a valid Ohio driver’s license, and reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all organization staff. Competencies include excellent presentation/facilitation, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Must be a team player.
  • Requires high level computer expertise, including proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, understanding of databases, ability to write SQL queries, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications. 
  • Preferred knowledge of these additional applications: Tableau Server, Tableau Desktop, Alteryx, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Flexible, innovative and the ability to excel in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment.
  • Excellent organization skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands and work efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
