Inpatient Pharmacist job in JBSA Fort Sam Houston, TX
Schedule: Rotating shifts, 24/7 operations
About the Role
We are seeking licensed Inpatient Pharmacists to support the Department of Pharmacy at Brooke Army Medical Center, the Department of Defense’s largest inpatient medical facility and only Level I Trauma Center.
This is a direct patient-care role in a high-acuity hospital environment supporting active-duty service members, veterans, and beneficiaries.
What You’ll Do
- Review, verify, compound, and dispense inpatient medications
- Perform IV admixture and parenteral nutrition calculations
- Screen medication orders for dosing accuracy, allergies, and interactions
- Support Code Blue and emergency response activities (as assigned)
- Maintain controlled substance accountability
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians
- Participate in training and oversight of pharmacy staff
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited program
- Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license (any U.S. state)
- Minimum 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience within the past 2 years
- U.S. Citizenship (required by federal contract)
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal credentialing and Tier 1 background investigation
- BLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
