We are hiring a full time, temporary (up to 18 months) Analyst, Security and Network position working out of Edmonton, AB.
As the Security & Network Analyst, you will work collaboratively with other specialized groups to manage and maintain EPCOR’s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and support Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure. You will be focused on supporting a full stack of infrastructure allowing for safe and secure operation of power control systems and remote control of substation devices. You will build, refine, and implement processes and innovative technical solutions to meet ARS CIP requirements and ensure a highly secure environment.
Working with the Operations Network & Security Team (ONS) team, you will manage a complex multi domain, highly available environment which includes understanding and interacting with SCADA systems in a real time environment.
What you’d be responsible for
- Ensuring security systems are optimized, configured, and monitored to protect EPCOR’s operational computing and communications infrastructure from malicious attacks and/or unintended changes
- Performing duties that comply with and support EPCOR’s NERC/ARS CIP policies covering: information classification, change management, access management, and electronic security perimeter, physical security, malicious software prevention, security testing, ports and services management, patch management, security incident response, disaster recovery and audit evidence collection
- Designing, administering, and supporting network management, change management, vulnerability management, intrusion detection/prevention, SIEM, white-listing and anti-virus toolsets
- Firewall and network administration including provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting of datacenter and field IP networks
- Designing, administering, securing, and supporting EPCOR’s OT Enterprise Computing Infrastructure
- Assisting with troubleshooting SCADA network, communication and infrastructure issues
- Working with EPCOR’s Information Technology teams to jointly support OT user facing applications (ADMS/others)
- Effectively and clearly communicating both verbally and in writing to team members, management, and others
- Evaluating, testing and implementing technical solutions to address regulatory, compliance and business needs & requirements
- Updating infrastructure drawings and documentation as needed
What’s required to be successful
- Degree or diploma in Computing Science or Information Systems Technology
- 4+ years of directly related experience
- Candidates possessing less than the required years of experience may be considered in a developmental position
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in security including threat identification, proactive defense, incident response, and development of mitigation strategies
- Networking & operating system certifications from vendors such as Cisco & Microsoft are an asset
- Certifications and/or training in security are preferred
- Familiarity with CIP regulatory standards is an asset
- Experience with log gathering, correlation logic, and analysis
- Experience with risk & change assessment, analysis and management
- Exhibit a passion to learn, design, configure, monitor and optimize new or existing complex technical implementations
- Demonstrate a knowledgeable, innovative and achievement-oriented approach to solving technical problems
- Experience with securing and supporting ADMS, OMS/DMS, SCADA or other real-time production systems is an asset
- Strong data reporting skillsets (Power BI, SQL Reporting, RegEx, Excel) are an asset
- Ability to demonstrate a strong level of technical skills with the following:
- SIEM and log analysis and correlation toolsets
- Network & endpoint security practices and products
- Virtualization (server, desktop, network)
- Windows and Linux operating systems
- Automation and scripting (PowerShell/VB/Python)
- Enterprise server and storage systems (Cisco UCS, 3PAR)
- Database administration (Microsoft SQL)
- Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation

Wage: IT2 starting at $53.05 per hour; developmental (IT1) starting at $48.58 per hour (Final Wage and step will be determined at the time of selection and is subject to change based on the ratification of the new Collective Agreement.)
Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
