We’re hiring a permanent, full-time Senior Advisor, Operational Excellence based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Associate Director, Operational Excellence, this role is responsible for leading process improvement and business process redesign initiatives across EPCOR Water Services. The successful candidate will provide specialized expertise that integrates strategy, process, technology, and information to improve operational performance, enhance customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and support sustainable business outcomes.
As the Senior Advisor, Operational Excellence, you will work closely with operational leaders, project teams, engineering, health and safety, learning and development, and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and organizational change. This role requires strong analytical, facilitation, project management, and change leadership capabilities to deliver measurable business results.

What you’d be responsible for
In the role of Senior Advisor, Operational Excellence, you will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):
- Lead and facilitate business process redesign and continuous improvement projects that improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.
- Develop and execute operational excellence strategies that align with business priorities and the Operational Excellence Business Plan.
- Provide specialized consultation, mentorship, and training in change management, process improvement, business analysis, and implementation planning.
- Conduct research, analyze performance data, and apply innovative problem-solving techniques to identify improvement opportunities and support decision-making.
- Lead multi-stakeholder projects by defining scope, coordinating cross-functional teams, managing risks, monitoring progress, and reporting outcomes.
- Develop and implement change management strategies that support employee adoption and long-term sustainment of process improvements.
- Design and document business processes, policies, procedures, and work practices that comply with EPCOR standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish meaningful performance measures and key performance indicators that demonstrate progress toward strategic and operational goals.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring others and promoting operational excellence methodologies throughout the organization.
- Support business planning and strategic initiatives by providing operational excellence expertise and recommendations to leaders and stakeholders.
What’s required to be successful
Education and Credentials
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- Certification or formal education in business process redesign (e.g., Six Sigma or equivalent) is required.
- Change Management certification or coursework is considered an asset.
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience leading process improvement and business process redesign initiatives.
- Demonstrated success implementing significant process changes that resulted in measurable operational efficiencies or cost savings.
- Experience working with frontline operations, distributed workforces, and complex stakeholder environments is preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong expertise in process improvement, business process redesign, and process mapping methodologies.
- Advanced analytical capabilities, including experience with data analysis, performance measurement, and reporting.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to balance competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Visio, Project, and Microsoft 365 tools.
Assets
- Experience developing and delivering training programs and continuous improvement workshops.
- Experience supporting organizational change initiatives within operational or regulated environments.
