We are hiring up to three (3) temporary full-time Labourer 2 (Service Maintenance) positions (up to 24 months) positions working out our Aurum site in Edmonton, Alberta.

- Performing sewer service investigations
- Locating services and removing obstructions
- Inspecting catch basins and manholes to ensure public safety
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round

What you’d be responsible for
- Assist the Service Maintenance Labourer 3 with tasks such as:
- Responding to emergency sewer trouble calls
- Inspection of wastewater collection assets
- Preparation of equipment and tools required for the day
- Head into the field to clean and televise wastewater collection assets from residential and commercial locations.
- Perform routine labouring work related to the operation and upkeep of Service Maintenance units, and other equipment used in wastewater collection maintenance.
- Set up and take down equipment safely, ensuring the worksite is clean and secure upon completion.
- Performing detailed inspection of manholes and catch basins to provide asset information and to support decisions for maintenance or repairs. Inspections include detailed notes, pictures and completing an inspection report in GeoFit
- Assist the Labourer 3 in providing accurate service locates to support structural repairs and investigations.
- Report any equipment issues promptly and log deficiencies using systems like IVARA and Geofit.
- Communicate with your Team Leader to escalate issues or provide updates as needed.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of tools, equipment, and drainage systems.
- Ability to work rotational shifts and be available for standby duties as required to meet operational needs.
What’s required to be successful
- High school diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education).
- 1–2 years of progressively responsible experience in Service Maintenance.
- Related experience in other areas of Water or Wastewater Collection may also be considered.
- Solid understanding of EPCOR’s safety policies, procedures, work practices, and standards—including proper use and care of PPE.
- Proven ability to operate equipment safely, skillfully, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Alberta Environment Wastewater Collection Certification – Level (working toward Level I certification will also be considered - supporting documentation may be required).
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience with IVARA, GeoFIT, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Willingness and ability to complete all required training within Water Services.
- Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit, which requires a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- Limited to 6 demerits or less at date of hire (prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file).
- A Driver Abstract (5-year commercial type) will be required.
- Drivers with a GDL class may be considered (limited to 3 demerits and pending driving behavior review referenced above).
- Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions and through all seasons.
- Please note that due to the nature of this position you will be required to wear a ½ mask respirator for extended periods on a daily basis.

Wage: Starting at $28.17 per hour
- Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
