We are hiring a full time, permanent Senior Analyst, Business Controls & Data Analytics working out of Edmonton, AB.

We're seeking a strategic and analytical Senior Data Analyst to support Customer Operations through data-driven insights, performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting. This role plays a key part in workforce planning, performance management, and strategy development. You’ll evaluate system data, identify trends, and benchmark against industry standards to optimize Customer Operations and ensure compliance with regulatory timelines. This role also supports cross-functional initiatives across Meter Data and Billing, Meter Operations, and Customer Connections.

 

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Providing input to the Meter Data and Billing team business plans and directions, ensuring an appropriate understanding of the Meter Data and Billing team strategy
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing reporting, metrics and projects to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulatory requirements and the mitigation of risks
  • Facilitate needs workshops with clients to translate business problems into data visual recommendations and analytical solutions.
  • Conducting high level analyses, tracking, monitoring and reporting of operational metrics to provide recommendations into financial decisions, process improvements, regulatory filings, management reporting and data governance completed within established timelines
  • Representing Meter Data and Billing in projects and initiatives that require analytical experience and knowledge of Customer Operations
  • Acting as a leader to other team members and providing guidance on department initiatives
  • Researching, designing and leading the implementation of new processes, work practices, tools and system requirements necessary to achieve performance improvement
  • Manage procedure and dashboard documentation and ensure consistent process integration across teams according to EPCOR standards

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Degree in Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Business, Computer Science or Engineering is required
  • 4-6 years demonstrated analytical skills in a utility business environment
  • 2 years leadership experience in a direct supervisory, business analyst or project management role
  • Expert level skills in analytics, reporting, metrics design and data visualization
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power BI (or similar data analytics platforms), SQL, Python, Databricks are essential
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Settlement System Code (AUC Rule 021) and the Tariff Billing Code (AUC Rule 004)
  • Experience working in a regulated utility
  • Understanding of project management and change management
  • Experience implementing machine learning models to initiate improvements and support decision making is considered an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement

Wage: Starting from $53.92 per hour (Final Wage and step will be determined at the time of selection)

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly

 

This position is eligible for the hybrid “Where we Work” program

This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program. This position is open to Internal applicants:

This role offers flexible work arrangements under EPCOR's Where We Work Program. You'll primarily work from home three days a week, coming into the office as needed. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be spent in the office but are subject to change.
