About the Role

 

Join EPCOR Water Services' Digital Insights team and help shape the future of how data, technology, and business operations work together.

 

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in EPCOR's digital transformation by connecting operational business needs with technology solutions. Acting as the link between frontline users, business leaders, and technical teams, you will help elicit business needs, define requirements, and guide the design of solutions that provide measurable value to the organization.

 

This business analyst role is embedded within the business. You'll work directly with operational and technical stakeholders to ensure the right problems are being solved, technology investments support business priorities, and solutions are adopted successfully across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

 

Requirements Management

  • Lead requirements gathering activities for complex business and technology initiatives
  • Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, and stakeholder discussions
  • Document, validate, and manage business, stakeholder, solution, and transition requirements
  • Support business cases, project scoping, prioritization, and planning activities
  • Develop and maintain requirements documentation and business analysis standards

Analysis and Solution Design

  • Analyze business process and technology challenges and translate them into practical solutions
  • Develop solution concepts, process maps, workflows, and business requirements documentation
  • Ensure solutions align with operational needs, business objectives, and organizational standards 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted liaison between business teams and technical delivery teams
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, frontline users, subject matter experts, and leadership
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and consensus throughout the solution delivery process
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a way that is meaningful and actionable for business users 

Solution Support & Evaluation

  • Support testing, deployment, and adoption activities
  • Collaborate on training and change management activities
  • Monitor solution effectiveness and recommend improvements based on stakeholder feedback
  • Evaluate current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement

 

What Is Required

 

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Project Management, or a related discipline
  • Business Analysis certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, AAC, or equivalent are considered an asset
  • Project Management or Agile certifications are considered an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of business analysis experience supporting solution delivery, process improvement, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Experience working in operational, utility, engineering, construction, industrial, or asset-intensive environments
  • Experience gathering and managing business requirements for complex stakeholders and projects
  • Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles
  • Experience with business process mapping, requirements management, and stakeholder engagement
  • Understanding of analytics, reporting, and digital technology environments
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Power BI, Azure, Databricks, ArcGIS, or similar platforms is considered an asset
  • Experience using business collaboration and documentation tools such as Visio, Azure DevOps, Jira, Microsoft Office, and Teams

Jurisdiction: CSU52

Class: P2

Hours of work: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Wage: Starting at $53.92 per hour.

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.

  • A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
  • If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
  • A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
  • Prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file.
  • Successful applicants must provide their own vehicles with appropriate insurance in accordance with EPCOR’s Employee Mileage Reimbursement Policy. You will be reimbursed in accordance with EPCOR’s Employee Mileage Reimbursement Policy.
  • The results of this competition may be used to fill similar vacant positions for up to six (6) months.
