Visual Editor
Simply Recipes is seeking a contract Visual Editor. You will manage visual requests from our editorial team, including briefing in photographers and illustrators, reviewing and editing photography, and creating graphics and composites for our website and social platforms. This position reports to the Senior Art Director.
Assignment Details:
40 hours a week
Start date: 5/19/25
End date: 4 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $40
Location: Remote - US
Assignment Responsibilities:
- Assist Art Director with all aspects of visual production for Simply Recipes.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of visual assets.
- Source and edit stock photography according to brand style.
- Assign recipe photography, including creating photo briefs and completing top-level final edits (cropping, color touching, and light balancing)
- Create graphics and composites for articles based on editorial requests.
Skills/Experience:
- 3+ years working in digital media with experience in photography and graphic design.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
- Strong visual skills, particularly in evaluating art and photography for publication from a brand/style perspective, assessing color, lighting, composition, etc.
- Finds creative visual solutions for visualizing editorial content.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Adept at communicating and growing relationships over Slack and Zoom.
- Strong written communication skills required for communication with freelancers and other collaborators within Dotdash Meredith.
- Love of food and cooking is a plus.
