Join Cushing Terrell’s commissioning team to commission HVAC and refrigeration for new and renovated projects. You’ll ensure building systems perform as designed, work closely with designers/contractors, and deliver high-quality commissioning reports.

Position Salary Range*
The expected salary range for this position is $57,000 to $65,000 annually.
Required Qualifications**
- One of the Following: 1) 5+ years of HVAC or refrigeration field/start-up experience (service, install, troubleshooting, or performance testing) OR 2) a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years commissioning experience
- Basic understanding of HVAC/refrigeration system components (e.g., RTUs, chillers, boilers, VAV, controls)
- Comfortable working onsite — Overnight travel up to 45% (multi-day site work common)
- Ability to read construction documents/specs
- Strong technical writing and client communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Bluebeam or similar PDF markup tools
Preferred Qualifications**
- Direct experience commissioning commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration systems (functional performance testing, start-up, controls verification)
- Experience with building automation controls & sequences (BACnet, Modbus)

Position Responsibilities***
- Field commissioning of HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems (start-up, functional performance testing, and handover)
- Execute and document commissioning tests, collect data, and write clear reports with findings
- Use measurement tools and data loggers to verify airflow, temperature, pressures, and control sequences
- Ensures equipment meets all legal requirements and codes
- Travel to the project site to perform thorough inspections
- Communicate results and conclusions clearly by preparing reports with statistics and data-driven insights, ensuring they are comprehensible to both expert and non-expert audiences
- Record data which has been identified specifically during preceding tests to verify that outputs of the test produce specific results or to review the reaction of the subject under exceptional or unusual input
- Read and comprehend construction documents, equipment specs, and process drawings
- Make sure that the measurable factors which define the operation of a system correspond to the predetermined norms

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
