Position Description
Cushing Terrell is seeking a Design Professional with up to 5 years of experience to join our Missoula or Bozeman office. This role is built for emerging architectural professionals who are ready to take an active role in shaping design and technical outcomes across a variety of project types. You’ll work alongside experienced architects and engineers, helping develop design concepts, translate ideas into buildable solutions, and gain hands-on experience across all phases of a project.
We’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, creativity, and a drive to push ideas further. At Cushing Terrell, you’ll collaborate across disciplines and offices, take on meaningful responsibility early, and continue building both your design voice and technical expertise.
Position Salary Range*
The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $68,000 annually.
Required Qualifications**
- NAAB-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
- 0–5 years of experience in architecture or a related design field
- Basic knowledge and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of construction materials, standards, and building codes
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a project team setting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Works with integrity, trust, and commitment, setting an example for others
Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with construction document preparation or technical development work
- Exposure to construction administration processes
- LEED certification and/or passion for sustainability

Position Responsibilities***
- Assist with the development of design and construction documentation across various project phases, including plans, elevations, sections, and details
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other applications to produce drawings, 3D renderings, and technical details
- Support the project team in developing design concepts and translating them into buildable solutions
- Research and apply appropriate technical references for detailing of building systems and building code requirements
- Coordinate with team members, consultants, contractors, and clients in support of overall project design
- Ensure documents are accurate and complete while adhering to firm standards and client design intent
- Assist with site development, plan layout design, materials selection, and construction cost estimates
- Participate in site surveys and field observations
- Support Project Architect work including consultant coordination and client interface as directed
- Complete tasks within scheduled timeframes and budgeted hours under the guidance of senior team members
- Other duties as assigned

Things to Note
*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
