Position Summary: Hybrid role in office 3 days per week.
The Trademark Paralegal will work in the Company’s Legal Department under the supervision of the Chief Trademark Counsel and will liaise with personnel at all levels of the company throughout the world.
Responsibilities:
- Proficiency with Saegis software to conduct preliminary US and international screening searches.
- Ability to analyze trademark screening/search results and draft an analysis thereof.
- Knowledge of PATTSY (or similar docketing platform) and how to enter trademark filing deadlines and generate reports.
- Preparation of electronic filings for trademark applications and other trademark-related maintenance filings with the USPTO.
- Good communication skills and ability to instruct and liaise with foreign counsel on foreign applications, related maintenance filings and opposition proceedings.
- Coordination of the signing and legalization of POA’s and other documents. Notary public a plus.
- Ability to liaise with various marketing teams to gather product packaging, marketing and other materials for filings and litigation.
- Assist Chief Trademark Counsel and Chief Patent Counsel with anti-counterfeiting matters, including online brand protection, global customs recordals, coordinating attorney/law enforcement trainings, and other related activities.
Assist Chief Trademark Counsel with other intellectual property projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years experience, including substantial work experience with domestic and international searching, clearance, trademark filings, prosecution and docketing.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Knowledge of and experience with Saegis, PATTSY, USPTO trademark website platform, Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Word.
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive, effective at multi-tasking, able to work well under pressure and to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- CPG industry work experience a plus, but not required.
In-house corporate experience preferred but not required.
Environmental Factors:
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business (20% if needed)
