Position Summary:

The Jr. Paralegal will, primarily, work closely with the Chief Patent Counsel.  The individual will assist the Chief Patent Counsel in executing a wide variety of tasks related to such things as product development, anti-counterfeit investigations and actions, intake of outside product idea submissions, directing outside attorneys and patent agents, assembling and organizing data and information, and other various tasks.   

The Jr. Paralegal will also assist the Senior Paralegal and other members of the legal department on various tasks.

The individual will also have, or will quickly develop, the foresight to anticipate and respond to the needs of the attorneys, the clients and/or any applicable transaction as necessary.

Key responsibilities and deliverables:

Support Chief Patent Counsel and perform various tasks related to the following areas:

  • Construct, maintain and distribute various data and information.
  • Assist in tracking and communicating workflow and deliverables relating to preparation and recording of invention disclosures for patent filings.
  • Research, assemble, discuss and share competitive product data and information.
  • Assist in responding to various outside and foreign patent agents and attorneys.
  • Obtain signatures from inventors and other personnel relating to official documents for U.S. and international patent offices and government agencies, transmit the same to outside agents, track and calendar the same.
  • Facilitate notarizations and certifications when needed.
  • Assist with and participate in client meetings.
  • Assist in various tasks related to litigation and enforcement of patents and related matters.

Support the Senior Paralegal and perform various tasks related to the following areas:

  • Corporate Governance
  • Transactional matters
  • Non-Disclosure and other Agreements
  • Maintain Contract and other Databases.
  • Coordination with the Company’s registered agent with respect to notarization, apostillization, legalization, state filings, good standing certificates, etc.
  • General corporate housekeeping

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal Certificate a plus
  • 2-3 years of similar work experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Enthusiastic, pro-active, self-motivated, flexible, resourceful
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Decisive, maturity of judgment
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong proofreading ability
  • Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues on all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to conduct and organize basic research.
  • Must be willing to work overtime hours, as needed, including nights and weekends on short notice.
  • Must be a Team Player with a “can do” attitude and who takes pride in their own work product.

Environmental Factors:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business (if needed)
  • We currently operate on a hybrid schedule; candidate must be willing to come into the office 50% of time.
