Position Summary:

The Director of Brand Design will be a transformative leader that will curate the tone, look and feel of the Cuisinart brand and work on everything that is visible to consumers.   

The ideal candidate would have a strong Industrial Design background. They would help drive the design integrity of projects – maintaining adherence to and curating a brand language. You’ll work closely with Engineers, project managers and sales teams to bring new products and projects to market. 

The transformative candidate will bring best-practices, tools and design insights to the company, to  

help build a small in-house Brand Design team – a diverse mix of designers who will define the look and feel of the brand on everything through digital video creation/editing, photo direction for social platforms, to tight decks used for sales pitches. 

The highly-valued candidate will have familiarity with a broad scope of design disciplines– especially motion design and proficiency with 3D rendering software 

This role will require an established portfolio of shipped work and a firm grip on brand architecture and curation. 
 
This role is a management-level role, and a successful candidate will have the empathy and energy required for leading and coaching your team.  You will be encouraged to collaborate broadly outside your immediate team – providing insights to project teams on new projects, liaising with our Digital team and Product team on creative strategies and working with our sales teams, who need assets, presentation materials and content for their accounts. 

Responsibilities:

  • Curate the design and visual brand strategy for Cuisinart, scaling content globally – using assets effectively and economically and working with the brand team to create world-class content that is relevant to and reaches our target audience.
  • Develop the cross-platform strategy and rationale for projects and spending online, in print and in other media.
  • Develop a center of excellence for insights and surveillance of socio-economic, market and consumer sentiments and patterns, including trends in the digital marketplace.
  • Refine market insights validating our brand and products
  • Utilize insights to develop and execute new solutions for the brand and products
  • Develop and manage a promotional product launch calendar that aligns with retail calendar, and aligns with a coordinated social media strategy
  • Liaise with Sales Teams to develop localized marketing calendar focusing on seasonality of categories
  • Work with outside agencies to advance all aspects of brand design
  • Liaise with Digital Team and Copywriting Team to curate and manifest the tone of the Cuisinart brand

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 15 years of design and brand experience
  • Strong competency with Solidworks (or equivalent) 
  • Strong competency with KeyShot (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Exceptional aptitude and knowledge in design strategy and brand curation will be prized.
  • The Brand Design Director role would require experience with design management – having managed external design teams/consultants and internal design teams – with the experience and maturity to move projects forward and bring products to market.
  • A portfolio real-world work (goods that have been manufactured and shipped) is required. Aptitude in developing design solutions with a focus on brand is preferred – special favor will be given to applicants whose body of work includes projects with global brands.
  • The ability to show a narrative in case studies, between research and solution.
  • Applicants with case studies showing thought-process from data to insight to action will be favored.
  • A proven teammate who others can vouch for. Exceptional weight will be given to candidates with references who can independently vouch for the candidate’s aptitude, drive, creativity and ability to mentor junior colleagues.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business (% if needed)

  • We currently operate on a hybrid schedule; candidate must be willing to come into the office 50% of time.
