Position Summary:  This role is based in Stamford, CT.

The Creative Director will be a transformative leader, advancing design competency within the company. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative individual, with an innate understanding of both 2D print and packaging design -- as well as digital media design. 

The Creative Director will lead a production team that develops and designs packaging, instructional booklets and store displays, creates branded assets, manages and directs photo-shoots, and creates some digital content. This individual plays a critical role in managing daily creative requests, in a timely and strategic manner, with a view to prioritization and awareness of each request's potential impact on the business.  

The transformative candidate will bring best-practices, tools and design insights to the company, to reimagine and strategically plan the team structure and roles (creative leads, support staff, designers, production, digital/social) 

The highly-valued candidate will have familiarity with a broad scope of design disciplines – especially motion design, familiarity with 3D rendering software, and an ability to create fresh digital content. 

The candidate should possess strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to activate teams, both internal and external. The ideal candidate will have highly polished presentation skills and a portfolio of work with global brands. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, and lead creative resources in the production of all marketing content and communications
  • Develop deep client relationships to enable seamless delivery of high-quality creative content
  • Bring cohesive creative direction and assist in delivering creative ideas to business units where relevant
  • Actively engage in the hiring and training of creative staff alongside creative services lead, to reimagine and restructure the creative team to better align with the business demands
  • Ability to understand marketing insights and strategies to translate into compelling advertising campaigns that are digital-first
  • Ability to combine conceptual creative thinking with high-quality content delivery

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required with a minimum of 10 years of graphic design experience
  • Excellent understanding of both traditional, print, and digital platforms
  • Experience with digital photography and retouching, familiar with leading photoshoots
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Proficiency with a wider array of Adobe Creative Suite programs will be valued.
  • Experience with 3D rendering programs such as Keyshot is especially valued
  • Exceptional aptitude and knowledge in design strategy and brand curation will be prized.
  • The Creative Director role would require experience with design management – having managed external design teams/consultants and internal design teams – with the experience and maturity to move projects forward and bring designs to market.
  • A portfolio real-world work (designs that have been manufactured and shipped) is required. Aptitude in developing design solutions with a focus on brand is preferred – special favor will be given to applicants whose body of work includes projects with global brands.
  • The ability to show a narrative in case studies, between research and solution.
  • Applicants with case studies showing thought-process from data to insight to action will be favored.
  • A proven teammate who others can vouch for. Exceptional weight will be given to candidates with references who can independently vouch for the candidate’s aptitude, drive, creativity and ability to mentor junior colleagues.
  • Exceptional presentation skills are especially important.

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business (% if needed)

  • We currently operate on a hybrid schedule; candidate must be willing to come into the office 50% of time.
