This role is located at our Corporate Office in Des Plaines,  Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the corporate office.    
 
 
As the Sr. Director of Business Development with a focus on Cold Chain growth solutions, you will play a critical role in representing CJ Logistics at industry events, managing the RFP process, and executing lead-generating activities focused on cold chain sales (mainly warehouse and transportation management), while also cross-selling our diverse service channels (i.e. FF, VAS, etc.). You will be part of a team of Business Development Directors and Managers, driving new business, nurturing key client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact, customer-centric proposals. The ideal candidate will also possess a deep understanding of the cold chain logistics industry (including a strong network of contacts and potential customers), excellent sales skills, and a passion for delivering tailored solutions to meet client needs.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies for cold chain WM and TM sales to achieve revenue targets.
  • Client Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and market research.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Cross-Selling Initiatives: Actively promote and cross-sell additional service channels (WM, TM, FF, VAS) to existing and potential clients.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform sales strategies.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and present proposals and presentations tailored to client requirements, demonstrating the value of our services.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including operations and marketing, to ensure alignment and execution of business strategies.
  • Reporting: Monitor sales performance and provide regular updates to management on progress against goals and market insights.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline (MBA or Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of cold chain experience in a client-facing role or account management, with demonstrated success in sales leadership.
  • Proven experience selling engagements valued at $5 million or more annually.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage across vertical and horizontal levels within organizations.
  • Proven track record of generating leads and moving them through the sales pipeline to closed deals.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted assignments.
  • Problem-solving skills with an aptitude for identifying strategic solutions to enterprise-wide challenges.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales process management tools.
Pay, Benefits and More:
  • Salary range - $178,000-195,000.
