Role Overview
The AVP of Business Development (BD) Operations will drive firm growth through developing, maintaining, and continually improving the operations, business systems, and intelligence that enable the firm’s revenue-generating efforts. This role works cross-functionally across BD, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Analytics, ensuring process efficiency and data accuracy throughout the customer journey, from lead generation to revenue recognition.
This includes providing business ownership for the strategy, development, and maintenance of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, Salesforce. It also includes the intersecting processes and data flows with related systems to maintain an enterprise revenue forecast. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the inputs and outputs of a CRM and how data flows across connected processes and systems, including the organization’s ERP. The successful candidate must possess a deep understanding of sales and revenue operations within a professional services environment and be adept at translating business decisions and needs into system and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate with and guide colleagues including analysts, developers, and system administrators to implement changes to our systems and reporting infrastructure.
The successful candidate must be adept at partnering cross-functionally with stakeholders in other parts of the business. This role must facilitate seamless communication between the CRM and other business systems/functions and will collaborate closely with stakeholders and peers across Business Development, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Analytics. This role will report to the Vice President of Strategic Sales and Business Development for Chartis Consulting.
Responsibilities
Enterprise CRM
- Provide strategic business leadership to advance and maintain the enterprise CRM, setting the CRM system vision and informing and overseeing system improvements to align with enterprise growth and structure, maximize business insights, and increase user adoption
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., leadership, BD, marketing, finance, and IT) to understand their needs and priorities
- Develop and oversee an ongoing maintenance plan for our CRM data
- Be responsible for user adoption and proficiency through training and support
- Manage the intersection points of the CRM with other business systems such as Workday (ERP) and HubSpot (Marketing)
- Establish appropriate governance and quality management steps that provide a high level of data quality, including data integration and automation where appropriate
- Lead a team of colleagues including both direct report(s) as well as close collaborators to ensure successful execution of system enhancements and ongoing maintenance
Revenue Management Operations and Reporting
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance and Analytics to maintain a unified, enterprise revenue forecast
- Develop BD KPIs and dashboards and take an active interest in using the CRM to identify trends/opportunities related to BD, and enable data-driven strategies to decision making (e.g., competitor trends, interventions to increase market activity)
- Oversee the firm’s conflict policy and related processes
- Improve operational processes that drive BD efficiency, success, and data integrity
- Define and document business workflows, including workflows to optimize CRM usage
Enterprise Initiative Oversight
- Translate enterprise business decisions into the required changes to our CRM and revenue management related reports and processes, and oversee the resulting changes
- Provide project management over the integration of new businesses into the enterprise CRM, enterprise revenue forecast, and other financial/operational reports
Qualifications and Desired Skills
- 10+ years of experience working in a professional services environment, 8+ years in a business development or consulting operations role focused in healthcare
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA)
- Passion for accelerating growth in an entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to adapt and pivot work as needs and priorities evolve
- Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to rapidly learn and synthesize new knowledge and insights
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

- Strong strategic problem solving and project management capabilities
- Ability to synthesize learnings and communicate in concise, informative written communications
- Advanced capabilities in Salesforce, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Passion for materially improving the delivery of healthcare in the world
- Role location is flexible; must be able to travel occasionally to firm and practice area meetings
Salary range: $150,000-$215,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
