Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to support invoicing, forecasting, accounts receivable, and expense management. This role is part of our revenue accounting team and is responsible for assisting with revenue recognition, invoicing, contract and pricing review and reporting. Duties include managing project tasks, collections, expense management, month-end close responsibilities and projects as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Responsibilities
l Revenue Analysis & Forecasting: Perform revenue variance analysis, identify trends, and support forecasting efforts.
l Revenue Recognition Compliance: Ensure adherence to ASC 606 and collaborate with the Revenue Director for proper revenue treatment.
l Month End Close Support: Assist in revenue accruals, reconciliations, and reporting during the close process.
l Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with sales, operations, and FP&A teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and strategic insights.
l Responsible for data entry within our financial systems, including but not limited to, creating new projects and billing schedules to ensure accurate invoicing and revenue recognition.
l Assists with various tasks related to invoicing preparation and the distribution of monthly invoices.
l Ensure compliance with contract terms, pricing structures, and company policies.
l Responsible for creating and maintaining colleague profiles in the expense reporting system, including but not limited to updating employee records to ensure accurate approver workflow.
l Identify and implement process improvements to enhance invoicing efficiency.
l Assist in internal and external audits related to revenue recognition.
l Communicates with colleagues and/or clients in order to assist with accounts receivable collections and billing inquiries.
l Collaborate with the collections team to minimize overdue accounts and reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
l Work closely with finance teams to align invoicing processes with overall financial planning and accounting controls.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
l Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
l 5+ years of experience in revenue analysis, accounting, or financial reporting.
l Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
l Advanced proficiency in Excel & financial modeling.
l Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday) and CRM platforms like Salesforce.
l Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle complex datasets, and attention to detail.
l Experience with invoicing and accounts receivable
l Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a perfected skill to be able to speak to clients and colleagues in a professional, patient and collaborative manner.
l Knowledge of accounting principles and journal entries
l Located in Chicago is highly preferred.
l Hybrid
Salary range: $72,000-$109,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
