This role has an expectation of 2 days in the London, ON office per week, subject to change based on future business needs.

We’re passionate about having a creative and innovative environment where our team members collaborate and continuously learn and grow. CARFAX is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems Engineering team.  This team is a highly collaborative, diverse, geographically distributed team. Our mission is to administer, secure and improve thousands of servers and systems across the CARFAX enterprise as well as delivering new systems to meet business goals. 

What you'll be doing: 

  • You will collaborate with systems engineers and development teams to solve complex technical challenges to deliver both on premises and cloud-hosted solutions for externally facing websites 
  • Innovate new ideas to build, monitor and evolve our systems and processes 
  • Build and maintain systems and dashboards, develop using tools and scripts to monitor, recover, automate and streamline basic server and container administration functions
  • Server administration for company servers by proactively keeping systems secure with bug fixes, security patches, OS and software upgrades, and technical troubleshooting
  • Configure hardware, peripherals, services, storage, etc. in accordance with security standards, project or operational requirements
  • Design, build, and administer enterprise systems infrastructure to meet business requirements for reliability and business recovery
  • Continuously analyze and evaluate our systems, products, and processes for potential improvements, identifying throughput, latency, errors, and other problems for remediation

 What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years operational experience with Kubernetes clusters, including setup, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years AWS or other cloud experience
  • Experience with Python, YAML, Bash, PowerShell, object oriented or scripting languages
  • Experience writing and using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, etc.)
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, general logging and event management and other observability tooling
  • 3+ years’ experience using configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Advanced skills to troubleshoot various systems and technologies
  • Have a broad set of technology skills - DEVSECOPS - Development, Security and Operations
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions
  • Operational experience - ready to own the uptime and quality of systems

 Preferred Experience:

  • Linux or Windows system administration
  • Site Reliability experience
  • Familiarity with F5, Gloo, VPC, load balancing, and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose server and network related items
  • Experience with DHCP, DNS, IPAM
  • Experience with LAMP, Tomcat or other application stacks
  • Experience with Active Directory, file systems management
  • Experience with virtualization, VMWare, and data storage systems
  • Experience with TLS and Digital Certificates, and troubleshooting the same
  • Familiarity with CloudWatch, Splunk, Logstash or other logging aggregators
