The Mascot Program Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the Durham Bulls' mascot program. This role represents the Durham Bulls brand in the community and performs at all home games and scheduled appearances. The ideal candidate must be energetic, work well with others, and engage fans of all ages.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Represent the team as the Bulls’ mascot, Wool E. Bull, at all home games, community events, special team events, sponsor events and any other external appearances as required by the organization.
  • Manage Wool E. Bull’s appearance schedule, including regular communication with internal and external clients, with an expectation of scheduling a minimum of 15 outside appearances per month. 
  • Manage and grow secondary mascot program for the new character, Blue Monster, including hiring and oversight of part-time performers. 
  • Maintain and grow mascot social media platforms, developing engaging content to increase fan engagement.
  • Execute holiday-themed outreach programs, including Wool E. grams for Valentine’s Day and Halloween.
  • Assist with the execution of all programs that include Wool E. Bull, such as sponsored elements like the Reading Program, School Programs, and future Kids Club.
  • Develop off-season programming for secondary mascot, Blue Monster.
  • Work with Director of Promotions to find creative ways to engage fans on game day.
  • Work closely with the sponsorship activation team to incorporate Wool E. Bull into existing and prospective corporate partnerships. 
  • Coordinate vendors for community events such as Education Day and other assigned events. 
  • Handle and fulfill donation requests.
  • Maintain the mascot costume, ensuring all costume parts and pieces meet the highest standard.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance for mascot-related vehicles.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Preferred Height between 5'8" - 6'1".
  • Mascot Experience required.
  • Performance, dance, or acting background is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to drive and operate a go-kart, ATV, and appearance van.
  • Must have ability and desire to work long, flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Regular office hours are expected to effectively grow program, in addition to appearance and performance hours. 
  • Knowledge and experience using social media tools, including Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
  • Must be willing and able to perform continuously for up to two hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain high performance levels in the costume through varying temperatures.
  • Candidates need to submit a highlight reel and any supporting documents showcasing their performance in costume.
