Position Summary:

The Manager, Instrument Refurbishment Center (IRC), is responsible for the Instrument Repair department including oversight of people, processes, and products. This position supervises and supports the technicians and support personnel that refurbish and/or repair electromechanical device instrumentation and service of internal customer instruments. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for department organization, standards, and goals.
  • Responsible for directing operations to satisfy customer demand and avoid customer backorders and to efficiently build a quality product while maintaining team morale.
  • Responsible for directing the service of internal customer instruments to maintain compliance and keep those teams operational.
  • Manages the hiring and recruiting of capable personnel to develop an efficient team. 
  • Develops team members.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Engineering to ensure customer demand is meet and service rate is maintained.
  • Works with Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Engineering to ensure continuous improvement and cost savings.
  • Manages performance appraisals.
  • Prepares and manages budgets and reports.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in a technical field with 5+ years experience in the manufacture of electromechanical equipment. 
    • In lieu of a degree, high school diploma/GED with 9+ years experience in the manufacture of electromechanical equipment 
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years managing teams.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of instrument production and related business activity, and the development and deployment of manufacturing systems.
  • Requires demonstrated strengths in leadership, interpersonal skills, project management, creative thinking, problem solving, and communication.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, OSHA, etc.) desired
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing concepts desired.
