As a member of a team creating software for innovative in vitro bacterial diagnostic solutions, you will assist with the design, development, and maintenance of software and development tooling for the VITEK system. You will be working under the instruction of senior team members. No previous experience with the biology domain is required.
Responsibilities:
· Cultivate effective working relationships with other software developers, software architects, software testers, microbiology experts, business analysts and project leads.
· Contributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
· Analyze feature requirements, specifications, user stories, and current development processes to propose solutions to improve customer software and development team needs.
· Design, code, automate testing, automate deploying and maintain solutions.
· Support formal verification of selected software changes, including assisting with verification-testing activities and automation and field-related support.
· Train on assigned procedures relevant to daily work.
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other Science/Engineering field with significant software development
course work completed. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered. Junior year undergoing or completed is preferred, but not required.
· Demonstrate good understanding of software development fundamentals including object-oriented design concepts and common algorithms
· Solid verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to create clear and concise documentation
· Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
· Solid analytical skills
· Interest in learning new skills and development tools both in guided and independent activities
Qualifications
· Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile testing methodologies
· Knowledge or experience with multiple levels of the software stack
o REST service concepts / HTTP basics
o HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
o Familiarity with automated testing frameworks: Junit/Mockito/Cucumber or similar
o Understanding of relational database concepts/SQL
o Web/Application server concepts
o General software security concepts (encryption, certificates)
· Knowledge or experience with Java and/or Typescript development libraries/frameworks
o Angular/React or other single page application frontend framework
o Spring (Core, Boot)
o JPA/Hibernate
o OO analysis and design experience using Design Patterns
· Knowledge or experience with development process tools and frameworks
o Version control system: Git
o Continuous integration: Gradle, Jenkins
o Continuous deployment: Ansible, VMWare
o Scripting languages (Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, other)
