The Controller manages the accounting department functions, ensures financial statements follow GAAP and ensures that adequate controls exist to safeguard the assets of the company. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage department staff and operations
  • Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, Cash Management, General Accounting, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Manage department reporting, budgeting, and compliance
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Research and report on variances to budget and prior periods
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
  • Manage month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Oversees and reviews G/L account reconciliations and completes more complex reconciliations
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Serve as liaison for annual financial audit and manage compilation of schedules and reports to ensure the timely completion of audited financial statements
  • Create, implement and maintain policies and processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, and to safeguard Azzur’s assets
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to communicate with internal Azzur staff (clerical and management) to resolve issues. Ability to handle interactions with customers and vendors in a professional manner

Required Education:

  • BS degree in accounting or related field

Preferred Education:

  • MBA or MS degree in accounting
  • CPA or CMA

Required Work Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in accounting and/or finance
  • 5 years’ experience managing staff
  • 3 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or 5 years’ experience as an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Experience with accounting and ERP software

Preferred Work Experience:

  • 15 years’ experience in an accounting position

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Experience with implementation of ERP system
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Financial analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with ERP system and business intelligence software
