Safety Engineer - Construction 
The Safety Engineer is a resource for supporting the Safety Manager and project team in the successful completion of a construction project. This position assists the project team in planning, monitoring work activities and gaining correction of unsafe acts or conditions. Assist in the completion and maintenance of the Accident Prevention Plan. Participate in the 6 Step Quality/Safety Process Assist in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis. Assist with accident and/or near miss investigations. Assist the Project Superintendent in the implementation of the Safety Management Tool.

 

Responsibilities
  • This position assists the project team in planning, monitoring work activities and gaining correction of unsafe acts or conditions
  • Assist in the completion and maintenance of the Accident Prevention Plan 
  • Participate in the 6 Step Quality/Safety Process 
  • Assist in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis 
  • Assist with accident and/or near miss investigations 
  • Assist the Project Superintendent in the implementation of the Safety Management Tool
  • The Construction Safety Specialist will perform construction safety related duties on projects of varying type 
  • Duties as required by OSHA Standards for Construction 
  • Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public
  • Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings 
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits • Investigate incidents and complete associated paperwork 
  • Conduct risk assessments 
  • Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health 
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer 
  • Serve as company liaison with overseeing municipalities, OSHA, Insurance carriers and other regulatory agencies 
  • Maintain all safety related documentation

 Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, science, or similar field or equivalent experience; Preferred Education: Masters Degree in engineering, science, or similar field
  • 5-8 years experience of Capital Construction and EHS Experience
  • Vendor Management
