Required:
-Local to Herndon, VA

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES

•      Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs; includes requirements gathering activities

•      Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

•      Apply OS patches/upgrades and upgrade administrative tools/utilities on a regular basis.

•      Configure / add new services, as necessary

•      Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and documentation

•      Contribute to the standardization and definition of operational procedures and best practices.

•      Remediate issues around security, application tuning, operating systems, networking, server administration, storage, load balancing and connectivity

•      Troubleshoot beyond the network tier and leverage tools to provide troubleshooting guidance to operational IT Team

•      Repair and recover from hardware or software failures; coordinate and communicate Root Cause Analysis and Corrective actions

•      Drive innovation to optimize, automate and standardize the operational delivery processes

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•      Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science I MIS/ Information Technology, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, or related technical discipline

•      Minimum 5 years in a System Administration role

•      Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in Programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies; Linux system administration and system performance monitoring tools

•       Experience working in large-scale datacenter/cloud/network environments and related technologies

•      Demonstrated prior experience in developing and maintaining technical project plans

•      Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

•      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•      Skill in preparing and making written and oral presentations of complex technical nature to management

•       Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks

•      Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

•      Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a fast paced environment

•       U.S. Citizen

 

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS DESIRED:

•      Strong virtualization knowledge (XEN, VMware) is a plus

 SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

•      Ability to travel by air/car/train to other locations within the United States (0- 10% travel)

•      Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

•      Ability to hold and manipulate small tools

•      Scheduled night and weekend work is required
