About Argus

Argus is the leading independent provider of market intelligence to the global energy and commodity markets. We offer essential price assessments, news, analytics, consulting services, data science tools and industry conferences to illuminate complex and opaque commodity markets.

Headquartered in London with over 1,400 staff, Argus is an independent media organisation with 30 offices in the world’s principal commodity trading hubs.

Companies, trading firms and governments in 160 countries around the world trust Argus data to make decisions, analyse situations, manage risk, facilitate trading and for long-term planning. Argus prices are used as trusted benchmarks around the world for pricing transportation, commodities, and energy.

Founded in 1970, Argus remains a privately held UK-registered company owned by employee shareholders and global growth equity firm General Atlantic.

Argus Media is committed to ensuring career and personal growth for all its staff and provides extensive training and career development opportunities, as well as participation in employee-led initiatives, including a women’s network.  Our core values are Excellence, Integrity, Partnership, and Inclusivity.

What we’re looking for

The job is a challenging mix of reporting on market movements, assessing prices, analysing data, producing thoughtful, expert analysis, and writing breaking news.

We provide extensive training in good writing, market assessment, industry understanding, source development, and data analysis.

There are many opportunities to travel, to meet contacts, and to present papers at conferences and on webinars. There are also opportunities to work in other Argus offices around the world.

Reporting on and writing intelligently and creatively about markets is one of the most difficult and rewarding of all journalistic disciplines. Information is hard to find and verify; Argus customers expect the highest standards of analysis, accuracy and journalistic ethics; deadlines are unbreakable; and a mix of self-reliance and teamwork are essential. But working for Argus offers an outstanding grounding in many vital skillsets and areas of human knowledge, working on the frontiers of the energy transition and the future economics of the world.

This is a particularly interesting time to cover marine fuels. As the world emerges from the pandemic, the shipping industry is preparing to face a new challenge — fuel decarbonisation. As well as reporting daily on conventional fossil fuel marine fuels, you will be at the forefront of Argus’ development and deployment of new pricing assessments, news and analysis of alternative/green marine fuels in Europe.

If this is for you, we’d love to hear from you.
